Welcome to Centenary’s Children’s Ministries

Children’s ministries at Centenary are full  of action and excitement! We invite you to be a part of what is going on.

HolyLand Adventure (VBS)

Centenary's VBS will be held July 8 - 12th at the Boyle County Fairgrounds from 6:00 - 8:15 pm each night.  Join us for a free dinner at 5:15!  We'll be traveling to Babylon and following the life of Daniel.  It's going to be a treat.  To register to attend or to volunteer, you may use this link:  Babylon.

Nursery

The nursery is located just inside the entry on your right hand side.  We offer nursery at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 for our worship services, our Sunday school, and for many bible studies during the week, including Wednesday night programming.  Come and check us out!

Spring Programming picks up speed!

Children's Sunday School at Centenary is Rock Solid!  Preschoolers through 6th graders are building a strong foundation utilizing the bible, prayer, printed resources and various activities, while leaving room for the work of the Holy Spirit.  Rock Solid give children exposure to the entire scope of the bible in four years.  This spring our emphasis is on Jesus and His ministry.

Room 142:  Nursery
Room 133:  Preschool
Room 136:  K-1
Room 139: Grades 2-3
Room 210:  Grades 4-5

Beginning June 3, we will be moving into our Summer Schedule!  We'll be splitting our kids into TWO groups:

Preschoolers (3 and up) through completed 1st graders will be studying the 23rd Psalm and getting to know The Good Shepherd.  The curriculum uses games, activities, puppets and great bible storytelling!

Completed 2nd graders through completed 5th graders will be diving into more What's In the Bible? curriculum - an extremely creative, media-rich program full of music, humor, and bible knowledge.  We'll need adult volunteers to staff this class throughout the summer.  Sign up at the door, or here:  Sunday School.  Register, pick a date, and you'll get an email reminder!

Worship Bags

Worship bags are available at the door to the multi-purpose room. Inside you will find pencils, crayons, a Pockets Magazine and a children’s bulletin, along with a few other items. You are welcome to take the contents home with you (but please return our bags to the box).

Children’s Moments
During our 11 a.m. traditional service, there is a special time for our children. We call it ‘Moments Mostly for Children.’ Children are invited to come forward for a message all their own.

Children’s Church
Children are welcome to remain in the worship service. If you prefer, we also offer children’s church during the 11.00 am service. After ‘Moments Mostly for Children,’ children may be dismissed for Children’s Church. Kindergartners and 1st graders will go to the choir room (please use the door to the right hand side and go through the kitchen serving line hall).  Preschoolers aged 3 and up will go to room 133.  Children who attend the 9.45 am Contemporary Service may attend Sunday School while their parents worship. Or, if you prefer, children are welcome to remain in the service.

Starting June 3rd, our children's church will be combined!  Preschoolers through completed 1st graders will meet together in Room 139.  We'll be continuing with our Boz material.  We'll need to schedule volunteers for this class!  Sign up at the door, or here:  Children's Church.  Thank you!

Wednesday Programming

Wednesday programming will resume Wednesday, August 29!

Other Children's Ministries

We have an annual Children’s Sabbath celebration.  Our children lead worship, so don't miss out!

Country Carnival is our Fall Festival held the last Sunday of October.  We have food, fun, and games, and you can do it all in costume, if you like.

We have a Christmas pageant mid-December.  Our goal is to involve as many kids as we can, either in a dramatic role, or by song.  What fun!

Our Children's Christmas Eve candlelight service is held early on Christmas eve, and is very family friendly.  We have a wonderful, holy night and we don't mind fidgeting.

Easter Egg Hunt

We have an exciting Easter egg hunt!  Last year we hid over 3000 eggs, gave away tons of prizes, fed everyone a great lunch and took pictures with the Easter Bunny.  Join us!

Kids’ Morning Out (KMO) is a child care program that runs through the school year Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Contact Debby Kreider, KMO Director, at 236-4800 on how to register.

Watch the Centenary bulletin and newsletter for more information---there’s always something happening for kids at Centenary!

Questions?  Contact Jill Winter, Director of Children's Ministries at 236-4800.

Centenary United Methodist Church is a Safe Sanctuary for children. Our volunteers are required to undergo background checks and to be active with our congregation for a period of six months before being an active volunteer. We observe a ‘two adult rule’ in our classrooms, which may include the presence of a floating adult. We are required by Kentucky State Law to report any instance of abuse or suspected abuse. As a parent, you can help us by supervising your children in hallways and public areas, picking up your child from his/her classroom after class, and educating your child on safe behaviors. Centenary loves children and we want to keep them safe!
