Welcome to Centenary’s Children’s Ministries!

Children’s ministries at Centenary are full of action and excitement! We invite you to be a part of what is going on.

We had a fabulous time in Egypt for VBS - we raised over $700 for our mission (lunch program for kids in Guatemala), we made 12 blankets for Operation Kid-to-Kid, and we learned all about Joseph, God's plans for us, wisdom, forgiveness, gifts and we had a great time doing it.  Thank you for coming!  If you would like access to our photos, please send your email address to jillwinter@bellsouth.net.  Next year we're going to NAZARETH!

Nursery
The nursery is located just inside the entry on your right hand side.  We offer nursery at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 for our worship services, our Sunday school, and for many bible studies during the week, including Wednesday night programming.  Come and check us out!

 Sunday School
We're on our summer schedule!

We are splitting into two groups for the summer:

9:45 hour
Room 139:  Preschoolers (age 3 and up) through completed 1st graders

Room 133:  Completed 2nd graders through completed 6th graders

We're studying 13 Very Bad Days and How God Fixed Them.  We'll see how God worked in the lives of Noah, DAniel, Mary, Lazarus, Stephen, and many more memorable characters.  Along the way kids will discover that the same God of long ago watches over them - and he knows how to fix their very bad days, too!

FYI:  Regular Sunday School begins again September 5th.  During the summer, we'll stay with our current grade (even after school starts).  We'll advance the kids to the next grade on Rally Day, which will take place August 29!

Worship Bags
Worship bags are available at the door to the multi-purpose room. Inside you will find pencils, crayons, a Pockets Magazine and a children’s bulletin, along with a few other items. You are welcome to take the contents home with you (but please return our bags to the box).

Children’s Moments
During our 11 a.m. traditional service, there is a special time for our children. We call it ‘Moments Mostly for Children.’ Children are invited to come forward for a message all their own.

Children’s Church
Children are welcome to remain in the worship service. If you prefer, we also offer children’s church during the 11.00 am service. After ‘Moments Mostly for Children,’ children may be dismissed for Children’s Church.  We're on our Summer Schedule!  Preschoolers ages 3 and up through completed 1st Graders will meet in Room 139.  Children who attend the 9.45 am Contemporary Service may attend Sunday School while their parents worship. Or, if you prefer, children are welcome to remain in the service.

Wednesday Programming

Our Wednesday Programming for Children takes a break during the summer - we'll see you again after Labor Day!

Jubilation Station (Two year olds to 4th Graders)

What's Jubilation Station?  It begins at 5.45 pm Wednesday evenings with a music and worship time in the choir room.  We then move to a craft time in the multipurpose room, and follow up this time with a Large Group time (including drama, games and memory verse work) in Room 139. The children then go to a Small Group shepherding time, which is divided by age group. It all wraps up at 7.00 pm. Two year olds through 4th graders are welcome! Jubilation Station runs September through May, with some breaks for special programs.

LIVE IT!:  Centenary's program for Tweens (our 5th and 6th graders)

Come join us as the kids explore all the questions we have about the bible and Christianity.  We're developing skills that will help us live as disciples of Christ today and throughout our lives.  LIVE IT! will run every Wednesday from 5:45 - 7 pm alongside Jubilation Station, beginning with worship and music in the choir room as well, and then moving to Room 107 at 6:00.  Live It!  breaks for special programming as necessary.

Other Children's Ministries

We have an annual Children’s Sabbath celebration.  Our children lead worship, so don't miss out!

Country Carnival is our Fall Festival held the last Sunday of October.  We have food, fun, and games, and you can do it all in costume, if you like.

We have a Christmas pageant mid-December.  Our goal is to involve as many kids as we can, either in a dramatic role, or by song.  What fun!

Our Children's Christmas Eve candlelight service is held early on Christmas eve, and is very family friendly.  We have a wonderful, holy night and we don't mind fidgeting.

Easter Egg Hunt

We have an exciting Easter egg hunt!  Last year we hid over 3000 eggs, gave away tons of prizes, fed everyone a great lunch and took pictures with the Easter Bunny.  Join us!

Centenary United Methodist Church is a Safe Sanctuary for children. Our volunteers are required to undergo background checks and to be active with our congregation for a period of six months before being an active volunteer. We observe a ‘two adult rule’ in our classrooms, which may include the presence of a floating adult. We are required by Kentucky State Law to report any instance of abuse or suspected abuse. As a parent, you can help us by supervising your children in hallways and public areas, picking up your child from his/her classroom after class, and educating your child on safe behaviors. Centenary loves children and we want to keep them safe!
