Welcome to Centenary’s Children’s Ministries!
Children’s ministries at Centenary are full of action and
excitement! We invite you to be a part of what is going on.
Want a place on our Children's Team?
Our next meeting is August 9 at 4:30 pm.
Did you have a good time in Rome?
We did! Check out our pictures here. We were blessed so much by your presence with us, and we raised $684.77 to send with our mission team going to Guatemala in July. We will use this money for the school feeding program, so that the kids there can eat at school. Way to go!

Everyone is always welcome at Centenary - come for any of our kids' programs! And be sure to join us next summer for Egypt!

Nursery
The nursery is located just inside the entry on your right hand side. We offer nursery at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 for our worship services, our Sunday school, and for many bible studies during the week, including Wednesday night programming. Come and check us out! We're expecting new babies at Centenary, so we've expanded our nursery space on Sunday mornings into both our (adjoining) nursery rooms.
Summer Sunday School at 9:45 am
Quigley's Village (Room 139) Our Preschoolers (age 3) up to completed 1st graders are buddying up this summer for Quigley's Village! With a variety of activity stations (make a snack center, worship center, creative center, quiet center) and a short video clip emphasizing God's love and our relationships with others, then a craft, we are celebrating our summer with our friends!
Translation Station (Room 133) Do YOU know all the steps involved in translating the bible into the heart languages of people around the world? Completed 2nd through 6th graders are learning about cultures and their languages, the missionaries that are passionate about translation, and the process of translation itself! What a ride!
Worship Bags
Worship bags are available at the door to the multi-purpose room. Inside you will find pencils, crayons, a Pockets Magazine and a children’s bulletin, along with a few other items. You are welcome to take the contents home with you (but please return our bags to the box).
Children’s Moments
During our 11 a.m. traditional service, there is a special time for our children. We call it ‘Moments Mostly for Children.’ Children are invited to come forward for a message all their own.
Children’s Church
Children are welcome to remain in the worship service. If you prefer, we also offer children’s church during the 11.00 am service. After ‘Moments Mostly for Children,’ children may be dismissed for Children’s Church. Preschoolers ages 3 and up and Kindergartners and First Graders (completed) are meeting together for the summer in Room 139. Children who attend the 9.45 am Contemporary Service may attend Sunday School while their parents worship. Or, if you prefer, children are welcome to remain in the service.
Wednesday Programming
Jubilation Station will begin again September 2nd, 2009! See you next Fall!
What's Jubilation Station? It begins at 5.45 pm Wednesday evenings with a craft time in the multipurpose room. We follow up this time with a Large Group time (including drama, games and memory verse work) in Room 139. The children then go to a Small Group shepherding time, which is divided by age group. It all wraps up at 7.00 pm. Two year olds through 4th graders are welcome! Jubilation Station runs September through May, with some breaks for special programs.
LIVE IT!: Centenary's program for Tweens (our 5th and 6th graders) will resume September 2, 2009! LIVE IT! is a series of short-term studies that focuses on life issues facing tweens and uses the Bible to help tweens develop skills that will help them live as disciples of Christ today and throughout their lives. LIVE IT! will run every Wednesday from 6-7 pm alongside Jubilation Station, breaking for special programming as necessary.
Other Children's Ministries
We have a great Easter egg hunt in the spring: last year we hid over 3000 eggs, gave away tons of prizes, fed everyone a great lunch and took pictures with the Easter Bunny. Join us!
We have an annual Children’s Sabbath celebration. Our children lead worship, so don't miss out!
Country Carnival is our Fall Festival held the last Sunday of October. We have food, fun, and games, and you can do it all in costume, if you like.
We have a Christmas pageant mid-December.
Our Children's Christmas Eve candlelight service is held early on Christmas eve, and is very family friendly. We have a wonderful, holy night and we don't mind fidgeting.
Our 2008 Holy Land Adventure was a blast!

Centenary United Methodist Church is a Safe Sanctuary for children. Our volunteers are required to undergo background checks and to be active with our congregation for a period of six months before being an active volunteer. We observe a ‘two adult rule’ in our classrooms, which may include the presence of a floating adult. We are required by Kentucky State Law to report any instance of abuse or suspected abuse. As a parent, you can help us by supervising your children in hallways and public areas, picking up your child from his/her classroom after class, and educating your child on safe behaviors. Centenary loves children and we want to keep them safe!
