Kids Morning Out

KMO will have an official registration for the 2010-2011 school year on April 26, 2010 from 10 am to noon.

KMO accepts registrations on an on-going basis.  We do maintain a waiting list; however, if you have been on the waiting list in the past, please note that the list is cleared each year at registration time and begins again.

KMO is underway again!  We are a growing program, so we opened another room this year.  And that has given us some additional available openings!  Hurray!  If you are interested in enrolling your child in KMO, please contact our director, Debby Kreider, at 236-4800 Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays between the hours of 9:30 am and 11:45 am.  You may also leave a message for Debby at other times and she will return your call.

Centenary's KMO program is a great place for kids to come while Mom, Dad, Grandparents or other caregivers enjoy some much needed time away.  Older children enjoy crafts, snacks, songs, books and play time with other children, while infants have play, cuddle (and possible a nap!) time.

Our mission statement:  “As a child-centered program, our purpose at CUMC’s Kids’ Morning Out is to reflect and demonstrate the gospel of Jesus Christ to children and their parents; introducing them to the love of Christ and providing avenues for nurture and opportunities for growth through loving service to each family.”

 Who comes to KMO?

KMO has a "Little Kids" room for children from the ages of 6 months to two years old.  This room has a cap of eight children, and two teachers are present at all times.

KMO also has two "Big Kids" rooms for children from 2-5 years old.  These rooms have a cap of twelve children each, and two teachers are present in each room as well.  Most children in this room range in age from 2-4.

When is KMO open?

KMO operates Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 am to noon.  Our 2009 - 2010 operating year is from August 12 to May 19.  We follow the Danville Independent School System schedule for Fall, Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks.

A child can be enrolled for one, two or three times a week, depending on availabillity.

How much does KMO cost?

To understand the fee schedule, it is helpful to think in terms of "slots."  One day a week is one slots, two days a week are two slots, etc.  So, one child who attends two days a week will take two slots.  Or, two children who both attend one day a week will use two slots.  These prices are per month.  Fees are collected once a month, usually by the 10th of the month.

One slot:      $40 (per month)
Two slots:    $65
Three slots:  $90
Four slots:   $125
Five slots:    $150
Six slots:     $175

There is also a registration fee of $40 per family (per year).

Our Facilities

Each KMO room has toys and games for the children, as well as a changing area and a place for a snack.  Two of our KMO rooms are connected by a child-sized washroom for those children who are potty-trained, and we are closely located to a regular washroom as well.  We have a fenced-in outdoor play area accessed through the infant room, complete with small slides, climbing toys and swings.  We also have access to our facility's large gymnasium, perfect for those rainy or chilly winter days.

How do I enroll or receive more information?

Please contact our Director, Debby Kreider!  The best time to reach Debby is during our program hours after children have arrived and before they depart (from about 9:30 to 11:45).  You may also call the church (236-4800) at other times and leave a message for Debby and she will return your call.  If you prefer to email, please send a message to our Director of Children's Ministries, Jill Winter, at jillwinter@bellsouth.net

KMO has a registration day toward the end of April or the beginning of May each year for the following year, but continues to accept registrations year-round.  Space is limited, but we do maintain a waiting list.  Our waiting list is cleared after Registration Day and begins again.

Other Frequently Asked Questions:

Do children have to be potty trained?

No.  We have changing facilities in both rooms and easy access to a washroom from all rooms.  Please send enough diapers with your child for the day.

What else does my child need to bring?

KMO provides snacks, but please send in a filled juice cup (or a bottle for the younger ones) with your child every day.  We do have extra cups on site, which we will fill with water if you forget.  Please send extra clothes in case of accident or sudden illness, as well as diapers and weather appropriate attire.  Toys from home are discouraged - we have plenty here!  (If your child has a special blanket or other comfort item, it is fine to bring it.)
